a tiny thread

Tinythread functionality wishlist (@agent_x) - 152 messages

agent_x
add your ideas of what functionality you think tinythread needs.
I would love to be able to see timestamps and a timezone tool, so I know when a message was posted, and what time it is where the poster is located.
Perhaps even the option to not have threads posted to twitter, etc??
pstuifzand
Show new comments on the same page in realtime.
Focus on the comment input box. I would make it more like chat, not sure if that's good or bad.
agent_x
auto-language translation.
ability to post links may also be useful.
paulmwatson
auto linking of URLs
agent_x
recent threads list only shows 10, so it looksl like not many tinythreads are happening. That needs work.
pstuifzand
I like that the active threads show up on top.
frankiecarl
Time stamp and realtime
irwin
Change order of posts (asc|desc)
pstuifzand
@irwin that would also work, but I think that would feel strange, better to focus on the end of the page instead of the beginning
discipleLoveJas
Search for Threads about a subject
ten7
start a new thread from a thread (inline threads)
amitshah_28
have it integrated with other social networking sites
jlegon
Would like a "see all threads" feature on Tinythread.
prem_k
make it get replies from twitter & send them to twitter too, like js-kit. url shortner too.
irwin
See all threads i've posted or posted to
Save a thread (bookmark) -- I guess Josh would know something about this
wewillchange
Like others have said, friendfeed-like realtime stream.
estrong07
Definitely needs some type of 'auto-refresh' (new posts appear on the page in real-time, so that it doesn't have to be reloaded)
Would be nice to have a list of the most recent threads you participated in on the front page, for quick access to past threads
irwin
@pstuifzand: sometimes you want to read a thread from beginning to end, and sometimes you just want to see if anyone's added something new
wewillchange
@estrong07
estrong07
The option to not post a tweet about every single thread you type something into would be GREAT... I don't want everyone who follows me to see every thread I join!
wewillchange
A delete button. hehe
estrong07
the box where you type should definitely have auto-focus, sucks to click in it everytime you want to type
acappellamedia
i'd like personal url so i can aggregate my threads and have people follow my threads and favorite threads like an rss feed aggregator
estrong07
I understand having the background color of my comments be different in color, but why not just the message? Looks kind of sloppy with 2-line comments
schofeld
Like the lo-fi look but how 'bout logged in Twitter account id written to <body> to facilitate user skinning?
joshu
i'll keep an eye on this thread.
estrong07
Messages should all be indented from the username, much cleaner than having the 2nd line of messages wrap below the username
It would be REAL COOL to be able to actually access your followers list and invite specific people to particiapte in a thread :-)
omg, joshu himself! Great job Joshu!!! This thing really has potential, thank you for creating it!
melmyfinger
RSS Feeds for each thread
ClarkF
security?
irwin
I did a quick reformatting of the display here: http://redubllc.com/projects/tinythread/
sogrady
second @estrong07's request. autoposting threads i start to twitter is ok; but i'm reluctant to comment on others because i don't want to spam my followers.
yahooza
save to del.icio.us link
follow / unfollow this thread so i can quickly scan new developments in saved threads.
rounded corners! NOT!
lawduck
relational map of thread topics would be incredibly cool. Help people organize along interest lines.
eelyajekim
secret stash of favorite tweets. Favorite Tweets you want hidden from your followers maybe.
mywhiteboard
A thread administrator type function to delete unwanted posts.
schofeld
Reference a dedicated Twitter account to auto-start a thread from Twiter: eg begin a tweet with @tythrd or @thrdr. There's probably a better one but you get the idea
claynewton
The ability to embed on any webpage; as an extension of that, the ability to use this as a comment widget on any blog.
nezmar
Definitely feeds and then automatic hyperlinking and some sort of following the threads you are in.
jubishop
hello world.
second message.
paperclypse
It'd be nice to be able to edit a thread title. In case of typos, or later clarifications. If your thread's a question, you could update the thread title with the answer, say.
JoshAuerbach
I like @irwin's proposal for formatting
mywhiteboard
Use of #hashtags
kenyarmosh
instead of link to "join" or "start" thread, let tweet be actual content plus link (acct for character limits)
jasonw22
Need to be able to follow the threads you've joined. Real-time/autorefresh would be great. Hide threads. Block users. Tagging and/or lists for organizing similar threads.
ipostfirst
I do see an occassional python error though..
mywhiteboard
Autorefresh
pstuifzand
@mywhiteboard It would be better if the new comments are added using AJAX at the bottom of the comment list in front of the comment textarea.
@irwin Have you tried to make a greasemonkey script for that? Than everybody can use it.
ipostfirst
Timestamp, All thread - archive .. for starters
eelyajekim
how about not counting replys to user names in the character count?
erif
funny RT @yahooza save to del.icio.us link
triptych
a Ubiquity plugin for tinythread would be nice.
dartsclink
@melmyfinger for RSS try changing the hostname in your location bar from tinythread.com to tinythreadrss.com
pstuifzand
I created a simple greasemonkey script that changes the CSS and style of the threads http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/55512
Based on @irwin's page.
screeny
Needs more Doug Henning http://bit.ly/pc4Iu
sd_neil
+1 tweet timestamp, +1 reverse chrono. tweet ordering
barineau
Don't autotweet my comment. It discourages active use since I don't want to spam everyone that follows me with constant notices that I am participating in a tinythread discussion.
irwin
@pstuifzand: you rock. don't have greasemonkey chops.
pstuifzand
you should take a look at http://diveintogreasemonkey.org/ Lot's of information about creating your own.
@irwin I wasn't able to recreate everything in your example, because the HTML changed a bit.
cheran
non-latin fonts support
Kingsley2
@cheran +1
+1 for realtime
fixed input box at the bottom
agent_x
I also like @irwin's proposal for formatting (see : http://redubllc.com/projects/tinythread/)
I would REALLY like hyperlinking on urls. Tracking may be nice too.
I created a simple greasemonkey script that changes the CSS and style of the threads http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/55512
bootload
a way to add a URL payload without resorting to tinyurls ~ http://www.scripting.com/stories/2009/08/10/enoughWithShortenedUrls.html
agent_x
Sorry - last comment was not mine. I copy/pasted. Meant to say I am USING the greasemonkey script that changes the CSS and style of the threads : http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/55512
>>> Is there a text or character limit on comments???
☑ - testing if tinythread service is UTF8 compatible..
colladude
link user name on the left column to list of threads created/commented..
webgurl
Maybe an edit or delete feature, (or both.) I also agree with not auto-tweeting every time.
alejandro_polit
ñ
ssshanest
use dean edwards' ify to process @, # and URL's... also auto-reload thread for live updates
agent_x
Option to create "private" threads, so only invited members can comment and interact
estrong07
@agent_x :: Character limit = 255 (the usual for anything using HTTP requests)
It would be nice if when you bookmarked a thread page, it saved the thread title instead of just 'a tiny thread'... No way to tell which is which without setting your own title fir the bookmark
Works ok in Safari on the iPhone, except that when you type your comment and hit 'go' (like usual for forms), the form doesn't submit, u have to manually hit the 'add comment' button
Simple solution for the iPhone 'go' button thing is typically to make sure the button type is 'submit', rather than 'button'
Nevermind, worked that time! Lol
lelapin
I haven't read it in any comment (maybe was I too fast): definitely a RSS feed for each thread
ScmykOTT
URL shortening. If it hasn't been mentioned.
Ok, now what happens when I've joined the thread and comment a second time?
agent_x
you can check back anytime and see what else has been added. Perhaps some notifications of updates to threads should be available outside of tinythread, if the users chooses to have them activated?
pstuifzand
@agent_x check http://www.squarefree.com/2005/05/22/autolink/ for linking of urls
jedi58
a way of searching tiny threads would be useful!
pstuifzand
@jedi58 At the moment I think you'll have to wait till google indexes these pages
